About The Position

This PRN position involves operating radiologic equipment to produce images for procedure guidance under physician supervision. The role requires taking precautions to minimize radiation exposure for staff and patients, assisting in radiology quality assurance and improvement activities, and effectively communicating with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Responsibilities include setting up procedure rooms, participating in performance improvement data collection, and adhering to all facility safety requirements. The technician will practice radiation protection techniques, use personal protective equipment, and ensure the safe operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment. This includes cleaning equipment, stocking rooms, and troubleshooting equipment problems.

Requirements

  • Operates radiologic equipment to produce images for procedure guidance under the supervision of the physician.
  • Takes precautions to minimize staff and patient exposure to radiation.
  • Assists in radiology quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
  • Effectively communicates with patients, family, and other healthcare team members.
  • Sets up procedure rooms including equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in performance improvement data collection.
  • Follows all safety requirements of the facility per policy under the direction of the Governing Board.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques using restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Uses personal protective equipment including lead aprons as required.
  • Properly operates, mobilizes, and positions equipment.
  • Sets up and uses appropriate techniques and protocols as indicated.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of radiologic equipment.
  • Cleans equipment and stocks procedure rooms as needed.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and advises supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
