About The Position

Schedules in-office procedures, updates and confirms patient demographic information and insurance eligibility, and handles patient communication regarding authorizations, financial counseling, and scheduling. The role involves responding to patient inquiries, resolving problems, communicating clinical instructions, and managing incoming calls and requests. It also includes ensuring canceled appointments are properly handled, updating patient information in the practice management system and EMR, performing required documentation, and maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in the healthcare field is required.
  • Minimum one year in scheduling or insurance verification.
  • Previous call center experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Spinal Cord, Kyphoplasty, and Imaging is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules in-office procedures within the required time as designated by the department policies and procedures.
  • Updates and confirms patient demographic information and insurance eligibility.
  • Updates and confirms necessary information including authorization requirements to allow successful processing of claims to insurance plans.
  • Provides ongoing communication with the patient(s) regarding authorization, financial counseling, and scheduling.
  • Responds to the patient(s) questions and complaints as required, resolving problems and maintaining high patient satisfaction levels.
  • Communicates clinical instructions needed for appointments/procedures.
  • Answers and resolves incoming calls and requests in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Tries and relays necessary messages to appropriate staff members.
  • Ensures that canceled appointments and related ancillary appointments are canceled and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Accurately updates patient information in the practice management system and EMR.
  • Performs all required documentation of work completed.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality of all health records, member information, and meets HIPAA guidelines.
