About The Position

The Cardiovascular Scheduling Specialist is accountable for scheduling various complex Cardiovascular procedures by obtaining appropriate cardiovascular procedure, and other specialized resources, implants and current/historical medical information (i.e., ICD9 Coding, Medical History, including allergies and Patient Demographic Profile). Complexity of this position is evidenced by the use of simple and complex medical terminology and enterprise scheduling protocols. Coordinating scheduling with anesthesia & other departments will occur. Cardiovascular Specialist must also think independently and make relatively complex decisions in a fast-paced environment. Provides superior customer service and service recovery, utilizing good judgment that meets or exceeds the expectations of patients, visitors, physicians and Providence Health System staff. Cardiovascular Scheduling Specialist is accountable for the efficient coordination of the cardiovascular schedule(s) including preoperative scheduling of procedures and assisting the CVL manager, Charge nurses, and staff with daily facilitation of the schedule. Other duties are inclusive of support during emergent cases to assist in communication of need to other departments, patient charge review; assess, order and maintain unit office supplies. The Cardiovascular Scheduling Specialist serves as the liaison and first contact of communication for the CVL; displays professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with physicians, staff and the public; as the front-line customer service representative, upholds and exhibits the core values in all communication. Requirements

  • Completion of intermediate level medical terminology, or equivalent educ/experience
  • 1 year of Customer service experience
  • 3 years of medical office or hospital experience in surgery field
  • Experience with Epic
