The K-12 Special Education teacher will create a welcoming and inclusive class environment favorable to learning and personal growth for all students in alignment with the district's mission and core commitments. This role involves planning and implementing instruction based upon district standards and best instructional practices, supporting a multi-tiered system of support, and establishing positive relationships with students, parents, and staff. The teacher will also understand and implement culturally responsive, standards-based curriculum and serve as a Case Manager for their caseload of students, ensuring Individualized Educational Plans are implemented. Assessment of student progress using formative and summative methods, data analysis to inform instruction, and documentation of student progress are key responsibilities. Additionally, the teacher will create a safe and positive learning environment, maintain professional competence, motivate students, and support their academic, social, and emotional growth. Effective communication with colleagues, district leadership, and families is essential, as is adherence to the collective bargaining agreement and mandatory reporting requirements.
