The Morris/Sussex Vicinage Probation Division is currently seeking a candidate with excellent interpersonal, customer service, problem-solving, reasoning and technical competence skills. The selected candidate should be dedicated to the policies and procedures of the organization. Under the general direction of the Vicinage Assistant Probation Division Manager and the direct supervision of the team leader, the successful candidate will act as a liaison between Superior Court, Municipal Court, the Prosecutor's Office and team regarding cases. The candidate will be trained locally and through the Central office to learn case management, Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS), filing violations, writing reports, presenting Officers in the Probation Division can be assigned to any unit in the Division at any time at the discretion of management as operational needs arise. The Judiciary offers a strong opportunity for growth. Should another position become available within the next five (5) months of the closing date of this recruitment, the applicant pool from this position may be used to fill additional positions.

Requirements

Open to Judiciary employees who are currently holding the permanent title of Probation Officer or Probation Officer Bilingual or employees who have an aggregate of one year of permanent service in the title of Investigator or Investigator Bilingual who possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any area, which includes or is supplemented by 24 credit hours in the behavioral or social sciences.
Applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their transcript at the time of application.
If selected, an official college or university transcript is required prior to start date.
US citizenship is not required.
Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting.
All persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey.

Responsibilities

Monitor and enforce conditions of court orders.
Identify client/customer case management needs, including use of cognitive behavioral interventions with clients identified as high risk.
Inform client/customer about available services.
Coordinate services for customer/client.
Monitor case flow and treatment plans and consult with treatment team.
Consult with judges regarding case status and case issues.
Analyze case histories.
Maintain data so that statistics may be generated as needed.
Confer with team members regarding management of cases.
Prepare cases for hearing; interview clients; write case notes.
Assign cases to appropriate track.
Analyze and screen cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations or professional practices.
Administer client drug screenings.
Perform field work including home, school and community agency visits.
Performs other duties as assigned.
