About The Position

Probation Officer I Starting Hourly Rate: $25.3889 - $27.8670 Location: Bloomington, IL Schedule: Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Make a Difference Are you passionate about helping people make lasting change? Want to serve your community while supporting public safety and rehabilitation? McLean County is looking for a dedicated Probation Officer to join our Court Services team. This is an opportunity to guide, support, and positively impact individuals as they navigate the justice system. You’ll work closely with clients, the courts, and community partners to promote accountability and build stronger futures.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (criminal justice, psychology, social work, or related field preferred)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to build rapport with individuals from all walks of life
Commitment to fairness, integrity, and public service
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Eligibility for certification as a Probation Officer through the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC)

Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of individuals placed on probation by the court
Conduct investigations and prepare detailed reports for court use
Monitor compliance with probation conditions like counseling, employment, or substance use testing
Connect clients with treatment and community resources
Document progress and maintain case records
Collaborate with court personnel, service providers, and law enforcement
Appear in court and provide testimony when needed
