About The Position

Review legal instruments in furtherance of the administration of dependent estates and to make an initial assessment of compliance with Texas Probate Code, the Court's internal policies and procedures and other statutes. Advise and assist attorneys on policies and procedures of the Court in connection with these filings and supervise related paperwork flow within the Court 1 accounts filed in all transferred cases.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED + five (5) full-time years of probate work experience.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of probate, civil and corporate law and terminology.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and understand legal instruments.
  • Must have knowledge of Texas Probate Code and Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Continuing legal education is required.
  • Computer skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages work flow to ensure rapid turnaround time on matters involving guardianships and other time-critical issues
  • Prioritizes review of voluminous filings
  • Coordinates approval of estate matters with Probate Auditor's review of accounting
  • Trains Probate Assistant in the review of paper work and court's policies and procedures regarding same
  • Monitors non-compliance paperwork to ensure it is resubmitted in an acceptable format
  • Examines filings and recognizes signs of potential danger to the estates and take appropriate action
  • Studies changes in the laws and statutes relating to administration of estates
  • Evaluates and processes the court's claims docket
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Court as assigned or required
