About The Position

This position executes work orders for pro and custom wood bats ensuring the highest quality and accurate production. This position is also expected to assist with bat production as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail required.
  • Effective time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain certification to operate required equipment.
  • Basic computer experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret orders, instructions, and related documents.
  • Ability to prepare and understand reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to accurately calculate quantities and totals.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
  • Capable of dealing with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible and able to adjust priorities to meet business needs.
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, up to the majority of the shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Spray application experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working with custom cutting machines such as Cricut is preferred.
  • Experience creating mixtures and handling chemicals is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills are preferred, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Build a comprehensive understanding of wood bat finishing, including processes, specifications, standards, measurements, and equipment used.
  • Interpret and follow work orders and art specification files.
  • Prepare materials and surfaces for finishing product application.
  • Apply surface coatings.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on finishing-related facilities and commonly used equipment such as but not limited to cleaning spray guns and changing downdraft booth air filters.
  • Utilize basic measurement tools and equipment, such as scales and mixing machines to support production process.
  • Identify and understand common wood defects to aid in identifying non-compliant bats.
  • Accurately perform data entry and record-keeping tasks such as bat weight tracking, finishing ingredient consumption, and preventative maintenance-related logs.
  • Research and evaluate new finishing techniques, materials, and design options.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and good storage practices of hazardous material storage and working area.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new team members.
  • All other duties as requested.
