About The Position

Pro Tem Research positions are limited-term appointments not to exceed one year, with a possibility of renewal up to a total of three years depending on program needs, funding, and performance. These positions may include research assistants and research associates. Research assistants work under the direction of a principal investigator, while research associates conduct research with general guidance. The Department of Anthropology at the University of Oregon is dedicated to understanding human cultural and biological origins and diversity through education and research, integrating subfields like Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Sociocultural Anthropology across various areas of expertise and numerous labs and global projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Earth Sciences, Geology, or related area (for Research Assistant - Type B).
  • Master's degree in Anthropology, Earth Sciences, Geology or related area (for Research Assistant - Type C).
  • Ph.D. in Anthropology, Earth Sciences, Geology, or related area (for Research Associate).
  • Commitment to working effectively with a team of students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds and across a range of disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research under the direction of a principal investigator (Research Assistant).
  • Conduct research with general guidance (Research Associate).
