About The Position

This position is responsible for digital film radiography of the head, neck, spine, chest, and extremities. The role involves preparing the room, equipment, and materials for patients, cleaning and disinfecting the mammography room and equipment, and assessing the developmental needs of patients from infant to geriatric, adjusting services, treatments, and instructions accordingly. The technologist must follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific radiology exams, including adjusting equipment, determining proper settings, arranging patient positioning, and utilizing accessory equipment to acquire images. A key responsibility is reviewing and evaluating x-rays to ensure they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes, explaining procedures to patients for safety and comfort, and maintaining knowledge of DR techniques, radiological quality control, teleradiology systems, and IHS/RIS systems. The role also includes assisting in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies, keeping the work area clean, maintaining stock supplies, performing general office duties, writing reports, and scheduling patients. Additionally, the technologist will enter reports after radiologist readings and is responsible for checking aprons and other shielding devices for cracks or leaks in lead. Other duties and projects as required by Administration and Management may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A graduate of an approved school of radiology technology.
  • Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or ability to obtain certification.
  • Knowledgeable in DR techniques.
  • Knowledgeable in radiological quality control.
  • Knowledgeable in the teleradiology system in use.
  • Knowledgeable in I H S/RIS system of RPMS.
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to provide vaccination card prior to being hired.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients.
  • Cleans and disinfects mammography room and equipment.
  • Assesses the developmental needs of patients from infant to geriatric and adjusts service, treatment and instruction appropriately.
  • Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific radiology exams.
  • Review and evaluate x-rays to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes.
  • Explains procedures to patients to insure safety and comfort during the procedure.
  • Prepares images for a reading by radiologist.
  • Assists in care and maintenance of facilities, equipment and supplies.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties; writes reports and schedules patients for examinations.
  • Participates in clinic wide quality improvement activities and programs as directed.
  • Gives patient instructions as to the type of preparation needed for all types of imaging examinations.
  • Responsible for entering reports after read by radiologist.
  • Checking aprons and other shielding devices for cracks or leaks in lead.
  • Perform other duties and projects as required by Administration and Management.
