PRN Wheelchair Driver, IMT
About The Position
Join Team AMT! Now hiring for part-time Wheelchair Van Drivers with Illini Medical Transport in East Peoria! Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance and patient transport services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit. As part of our Wheelchair Van team, you will be responsible for ensuring patients’ compassionate, safe and efficient transfer between healthcare facilities. This position supports Illini Medical Transport and will conduct transports among hospitals, nursing homes, private residences, behavioral health facilities, and contracted transports. Various 12-hour and 10-hour shift / day and night schedules available.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
- Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 100 pounds (subject to physical exam)
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
- Ability to comply with federal and state legal regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements
Responsibilities
- Supervise patients during transportation
- Assist the patient in and out of the shuttle vehicle with use of wheelchair
- Comfort patients and families by offering support an encouragement, respecting procedure schedules, and demonstrating care and cultural sensitivity
- Assist facility staff with escorting both the patient and belongings to and from the vehicle
- Maintain current State of Illinois drivers license
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Present and promote a positive company image
