Orlando Avenue Surgery Center (OASC) is a state-of-the-art surgery center located in Winter Park, FL. OASC is a multi-specialty surgery center with a focus on women's health/GYN. We have an immediate opening for a PRN Sterile Processing Technician. This is a challenging position with a surgery center that continues to grow.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GRD, required.
  • Graduate of SPD program, REQUIRED.
  • Instrument technician experience, 2 years or equivalent experience in hospital materials management department.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the care and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies in accordance with proper aseptic technique and principles of sterilization and instrument handling
  • Maintains established inventory levels by checking supplies and equipment.
  • Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
  • Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies and equipment, and assembles, wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.
  • Follows proper Standard Precautions while in decontamination and sterilization areas.
  • Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Performs environmental maintenance duties and assists in maintaining inventory levels in sterile processing, the operating room, and in equipment storage areas.
  • Performs the appropriate testing of all sterilizers and keeps accurate records.
  • Verifies that equipment functions properly, requisitions for equipment maintenance, repair or replacement, and removes defective equipment.
