About The Position

Cardinal Health manages the pharmacy at PAM Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Overland Park and we are currently recruiting for a PRN Pharmacy Technician to work as needed. Standard hours of pharmacy operation are 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday. On-call availability for times outside of these hours is not required, but may be requested on infrequent occasions based upon candidate availability. Pharmacy technicians help the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. This includes the preparation of and filling of prescriptions, taking pharmacy inventory, processing product returns and ensuring that all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and records all activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines. This pharmacy technician will stock the Pyxis automated dispensing machines at each nursing station, as well as deliver pharmacy-filled medications and products to each med room as needed. Previous experience with automated dispensing systems (Pyxis, Omnicell, MedDispense, etc.) is highly preferred. This job frequently communicates with customers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment of all orders.

Requirements

  • Active Kansas pharmacy technician license.
  • National pharmacy technician certification (PTCB) or ability to obtain shortly after hire date.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service/ interprofessional skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with automated dispensing systems (Pyxis, Omnicell, MedDispense, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Pyxis automated dispensing machine experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Pharmacist as needed, permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Inputs patient data and prescription information into the pharmacy information management system.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
  • Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
