About The Position

Our innovative and growing company is searching for an experienced MRI technologist. MRI technologists utilize their communication, patient care and collaborative skills to interact with patients and other members of the healthcare team. They are responsible to ascertain each individual’s safety in the MR environment before entering the magnetic field. MRI technologists utilize their knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the principles of MRI to operate MRI scanners safely and efficiently, assisting in the diagnosis of disease and injury. Effective MRI technologists are patient advocates who display reflective, responsible practice and have strong problem solving and technical skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a licensed Radiologic Technologist Program and clinically documented training.
  • MRI experience in a high-volume environment
  • Must possess American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification and Mississippi State Department of Health licensure.
  • Certification and licensure must remain current and valid.
  • Must possess MRI certification and license.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI examinations
  • Assists with day-to-day unit operational issues
  • Works with team on protocol development and review
  • Under the direction of the MRI Manager, and the medical direction of the radiologists, perform all phases of cross-sectional imaging.
  • Scheduling, ordering supplies, inventory, cleaning, and anything deemed necessary by the MRI Manager
  • Technologist is responsible for the protection of patients and staff from the magnetic field, including but not limited to all safety measures
  • Explain procedures, answer patient’s questions as fully as possible
  • Properly position patients and coils on a table
  • Set appropriate technical parameters, operate MRI scanners and related equipment, and observe image data on computer monitors during scans
  • Guide and monitor patients during scans that may take up to 90 minutes to complete
  • Recognize and respond to life threatening situations
  • Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the MRI Manager
  • Responsible for patient safety including pre-screening for contraindications, and radiation safety/regulations, including proper documentation
