Prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, with established policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing menus, preparing meals, implementing changes as recommended by the Dietitian/Director of Food Services, and performing administrative tasks such as completing necessary forms and reports. The cook will also assist in establishing food service production lines to ensure timely meal preparation, process diet changes, prepare appetizing and palatable meals, serve meals on time, and adhere to standardized portion control. Additionally, the role includes preparing bedtime snacks, substitute foods, assisting with cleaning duties, and helping with food preparation for special events. Maintaining adequate stock levels of food and supplies is also a key responsibility. The position requires treating residents with dignity and respect, promoting resident rights, and fostering a culture of compliance with facility policies, standards, and regulations. This includes following safety and hygiene measures, maintaining confidentiality of protected health information, and reporting any noncompliance, retaliation, discrimination, abuse, neglect, or occupational exposures. The cook must participate in emergency drills and trainings, report work-related injuries, and follow infection control policies. As a condition of employment, all assigned training and skills competency must be completed. Food storage areas, department equipment, and supplies must be kept clean and maintained safely. The role also involves assisting with inventorying and storing incoming food and supplies, ensuring readiness of food and supplies for the next meal, and recommending equipment and supply needs.
