About The Position

Education: Required-Equivalent to completion of two years of college or possession of an Bachelors of Arts degree with major course work in a related field. Additional experience as outlined below may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Required-Two years of technical experience in the administration of employee benefits programs with an emphasis on medical and retirement plans. Critical Action Items: 1. Administer the agencies benefits programs, which include retirement plans, wellness programs, and insurance policies, such as health, life, and disability. 2. Collaborate with insurance brokers, vendors and benefits carriers to manage the enrollment, renewal, and distribution processes for the agency. 3. Maintain records and ensure policies, procedures and benefits programs are consistently administered by interpreting plan policy and procedural requirements for the administration process. 4. Provide specialized support to agency staff for benefits programs. Escalate inquiries as needed. 5. Research, analyze, and implement benefits plans, policies, and programs, and make recommendations that represent the best value based on the analysis for the agency. 6. Perform complex data analysis to audit benefits programs and recommend cost reduction or containment strategies. 7. Prepare correspondence and communicate to agency staff about benefit programs, procedures, claims and any other government mandated disclosures. 8. Prepare informational materials, presentations and clearly written reports on benefits programs for agency staff, management staff and the board of directors. 9. Monitor government regulations, legislation, and benefits trends to ensure that the agency programs are aligned with organizational goals, cost effective, competitive, and are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements and laws. 10. Propose cost and time efficient changes to benefits programs, prepare and manage the wellness budget. 11. Other job duties as assigned. Measurable Deliverables: 1. Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, procedures and other written materials; 2. Compile, summarize and maintain accurate records and files; 3. Researches, compiles and summarizes a variety of information to prepare periodic and special reports related to the benefits function; prepares correspondence and a variety of reports and written materials; maintain accurate records and files. Wellness Responsibilities: 1. Maintaining the agencies health and wellness initiatives 2. Evaluating and providing recommendations regarding health and wellness related initiatives 3. Requirements

  • Have an aptitude for understanding the complex and constantly changing insurance regulations and coverage terms, as well as changes in health care law.

  • Strong analytic skills and business acumen to translate business unit plans and goals into human resource capabilities needed to achieve results.
  • Excellent client management and business literacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Must be flexible, self-directed and motivated.
  • High level of computer software skills to include HRIS, Microsoft Office, and database management.
