About The Position

In Step Podiatry Surgery Center LLC is interested in PRN surgical RNs to staff a new start-up podiatric ambulatory surgical center with one procedure room. Interested candidates should be detail-oriented, value patient safety, and have strong interpersonal communication skills. They should be strong multitaskers and comfortable with sterile environments and techniques. The RN may be responsible for covering pre-op/PACU and/or OR circulating and documenting for the cases. Cases are typically on Wednesday and/or Friday.

Requirements

Must be current with OSHA standards.
Knowledge of surgical procedures and ASC drugs.
3+ years of prior nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform blood pressures and assist surgeons and anesthesia staff during surgical procedures.
Clean and prepare surgical equipment.
Assist with patient care in the recovery room.
Document nursing care in the medical record.
Check equipment and supplies for expiration, need for inspection, and proper care and maintenance.
Follow universal precaution procedures.
Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery.
Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct.
Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure.
Initiate IVs and ensure patients are informed about the procedure.
Assess patients’ post-operative condition.
Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress, meeting discharge criteria.
Log all findings in patient files.
Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort.
Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to the physician.
Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies.
