About The Position
The Private Swim Lesson Instructor provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes at the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA. The role instructs students in swimming and/or exercise fundamentals, ensuring proper techniques and equipment use while maintaining a safe learning environment. Classes range from Parent/Child through Adult.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
- Ability to lift equipment and a small to average size child.
- Must be available to work flexible hours and be comfortable working with all ages and skill levels.
- Must pass a 10-panel drug screen.
- Must clear a Level 2 background check through DCF (Florida).
Nice To Haves
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and swim lesson instructor certifications are a plus; in-house training is also provided.
