About The Position
The Department of Music at Skidmore College invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position in Jazz bass for the fall semester 2026 beginning on September 1. This is a semester appointment with responsibilities in private music instruction.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Jazz bass.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level, preferably in private lesson and ensemble settings.
- Professional experience performing jazz and/or commercial music on upright and electric bass.
- Ability to teach students with varied levels of experience and musical backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student body in a liberal-arts environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach no more than 8 credit hours of private music instruction in upright and electric bass and / or coach a Jazz Combo.
- Contribute to departmental initiatives.
