This role is an individual contributor position for an experienced professional. The Private Investments Associate I will serve as a support resource to Managers and the Director of the team, providing leverage to execute on tasks and responsibilities. A significant portion of time, over 50%, will be spent interacting with clients. The role may include occasional travel to visit clients or attend business development events. The Associate will help Managers and Senior Associates manage active investment holdings, including direct equity, direct private debt, and fund investments held by UMB Financial Corp’s balance sheet and high-net worth client capital. They will execute live transactions across M&A, debt, and equity capital raises, coordinating among management teams, sponsors, advisors, and internal UMB teams. The role involves conducting new investment due diligence, including reviewing data room files, organizing requests and information flow, analyzing financial and operational data, and summarizing findings. Developing and maintaining three-statement financial models for transaction execution and portfolio management oversight, including discounted cash flows, leveraged buyouts, and comparable company analysis, is also a key responsibility. The Associate will conduct detailed industry and company research, including competitive positioning, transaction valuation comps, market sizing, and benchmarking. Preparing client-facing materials such as presentations, memos, and financial analysis is required. Additionally, the role will contribute to and complete audit, examination, regulatory, and compliance items. Other duties as assigned.
