Private Equity Vice President

Soul Equity SolutionsBoston, MA

About The Position

The Vice President will join a founder-led lower middle market industrial Boston PE firm as its first senior investment professional. This firm is at a genuine inflection point with multiple platforms closed, active deal flow across the portfolio, and a Fund I raise on the near-term horizon. This is the deal seat: own execution end-to-end, work directly alongside the founder and a team of deep industrial operators, and help build the investment infrastructure from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years investment banking + 2 years private equity, mezzanine, or related buyside investing; VP-level candidates likely have 6–9 years total experience
  • Demonstrated deal execution ownership in the lower middle market—able to point to specific transactions personally led from diligence through close
  • Comfort and credibility working with founder-owned and family-owned businesses; commercial instinct in seller dynamics
  • Strong financial modeling, IC memo writing, and quality of earnings interpretation
  • Experience coordinating multi-party diligence processes (lenders, advisors, co-investors)
  • Self-directed, comfortable in an unstructured environment without heavy infrastructure or specialist coverage
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial, manufacturing, aerospace & defense, or industrial services sector exposure is a strong plus—not a requirement for the right athlete
  • MBA not required

Responsibilities

  • Quarterback deal execution from initial evaluation through close, including platform acquisitions and add-on bolt-ons across the portfolio
  • Build IC-quality investment memos, financial models, and valuation analyses
  • Run diligence workstreams—commercial, financial, operational, legal, and quality of earnings; manage outside advisors and integrate findings into the thesis
  • Coordinate lenders, co-investors, and SPV participants through closing; own the deal calendar and milestone tracking
  • Draft and negotiate LOIs, purchase agreements, and related transaction documents
  • Partner with operating partners on bolt-on integration planning for platforms
  • Support portfolio company management teams on financial reporting, board materials, and value creation initiatives
  • Contribute to Fund I preparation: track record build-out, LP-ready materials, data room construction
  • Engage with institutional partners on ongoing firm operations
  • Mentor and supervise the associate hire planned to follow this role
  • Help build out investment process, deal screening discipline, and IC cadence
