Private Equity P&C Underwriting Specialist OR Executive Underwriter (Middle Markets)
About The Position
Zurich Middle Markets is experiencing significant growth and is seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter to join their Private Equity P&C practice in New York City. This is a market-facing role focused on delivering risk solutions for Private Equity firms and their portfolio companies. The role involves acting as a trusted advisor and customer advocate, partnering with brokers and clients to understand exposures and provide tailored insurance solutions. The position offers exposure to a dynamic and growing Private Equity portfolio, strong internal partnerships, and a collaborative underwriting culture within a hybrid work environment.
Requirements
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Underwriting Specialist: Knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Underwriting Specialist: Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Underwriting Specialist: Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Executive Underwriter: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Executive Underwriter: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
- Executive Underwriter: Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Executive Underwriter: Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.

Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with broker partners and customers across a broad range of industries.
- Apply Private Equity underwriting expertise across risk assessment, exposure analysis, and pricing to build and manage a profitable book of new and renewal business.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Leverage technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow relationships with preferred distribution partners within the assigned territory.
- Gain deep exposure to a fast-growing, innovative segment of Middle Markets insurance.
