About The Position

PNC Erieview Capital, a leading private equity investor of junior capital in middle-market businesses in the United States, is seeking an Associate to join our team. Since its inception over 45 years ago, PNC Erieview Capital has actively invested junior capital in over 300 middle-market platform companies alongside more than 70 private equity sponsors across a wide range of industries. The firm is currently investing out of an $800 million commitment and managing existing junior capital investments in approximately 55 portfolio companies. The Associate will be based in Cleveland, Ohio and will work closely with the firm's other investment professionals to source, underwrite, close, and monitor junior capital investments in middle-market companies. The role is responsible for tactical execution of work within a team or business unit, with work being more complex and drawing upon knowledge and past experiences. The Associate will generally focus on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting, managing work assignments and workflow independently with moderate direction. The role continues to build knowledge and develop skills by partnering with more experienced staff but has the knowledge to work independently the majority of the time. The Associate will have responsibility for mid-size or smaller clients/projects and typically works with more senior team members when working with larger clients/projects. The Associate is accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making for issues within the team or business unit. Additional responsibilities will be provided by the manager. PNC employees are expected to be customer-focused and manage risk effectively.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics or Accounting
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant work experience; (investment banking, private equity, or other M&A experience)
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and modeling
  • Skill in analyzing investment opportunities including a thorough evaluation of all aspects of a company’s business plan.
  • Ability to communicate analytical findings in a clear and concise written manner, as well as oral presentations and informal discussions.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior managers of financial sponsors and target companies.
  • University / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • Bachelors degree

Responsibilities

  • Screen potential private equity investment opportunities across various industry sectors and geographies.
  • Perform due diligence procedures, including industry and company research on prospective investments.
  • Prepare in-depth financial models and analyses of prospective investments, including historical and projected financial results, evaluation of assumptions and risk factors.
  • Assist with the preparation of screening and investment committee materials.
  • Support senior investment professionals in the negotiation and development of legal documentation for prospective investments.
  • Monitor the post-acquisition financial and operating performance of investments.
  • Source, underwrite, close, and monitor junior capital investments in middle-market companies.
