About The Position

Adelphi is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide essential health and care services to students with significant medical needs. This role involves delivering one-on-one private nursing services within a school facility in La Plata, Maryland, ensuring care is delivered according to the student's specific healthcare plan. The nurse will be responsible for maintaining visual access to the student, collaborating with educational staff, and attending IEP meetings as needed. This is a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year, with a shift schedule of 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Exact hours are to be confirmed based on student schedules.

Requirements

• Active MD License
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services exclusively to the assigned student and be available to them at all times.
• Maintain visual access unless otherwise specified in the student's health or individualized education plan (IEP).
• Deliver care in a non-disruptive manner and handle any medical emergencies that arise.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support IEP implementation.
• Attend IEP meetings to provide relevant medical information when requested.
• Adhere to all school district board policies and specific physician orders during school hours and transportation.
• Ensure that necessary medical supplies and equipment are present and in good working order.
• Carry out specific activities delegated by the teacher related to the student’s care.
• Any other duties as may be assigned.
