About The Position

This role is ideal for a dedicated HHA who values flexibility, with a schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12-hour shifts. On-call opportunities are also available with an additional stipend. The position involves providing companion care, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), supporting mobility, and ensuring client safety and well-being, specifically for a client with Parkinson's disease. The role also includes light housekeeping, running errands, and accompanying the client to appointments. Adherence to agency policies, HIPAA laws, and maintaining client confidentiality are crucial.

Requirements

  • Previous caregiving or HHA experience required
  • Experience caring for clients with Parkinson's disease preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Compassionate, dependable, and professional demeanor
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum one (1) year of documented home care assistance and/or direct care experience at an assisted living or skilled nursing facility, etc., is preferred
  • Certified CPR
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance (proof of insurance is required)
  • Must be able to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull. Varied assistance is required depending on the mobility of the client.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  • Ability to adhere to HIPAA and ensure confidentiality and security of the client's medical information
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively
  • Up-to-date vaccinations including COVID-19, Influenza, and Hepatitis B

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of a nursing assistant or certified home health aide program

Responsibilities

  • Provide companion care and personal care assistance
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Support sit-to-stand transfers and mobility needs
  • Accompany and transport client to lunch as needed
  • Ensure client safety, comfort, and well-being throughout the shift
  • Provide light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe home environment
  • Run errands and accompany the client to appointments, including barber visits as needed
  • Provide companionship and support during daily activities to ensure the client's comfort and well-being
  • Monitor and report any changes in the client's condition to supervisors or case managers
  • Follow the care plan and communicate regularly with the care team
  • Provide client-facing care as assigned
  • Provide assistance with daily tasks as directed in the client's personalized plan of care, including but not limited to: feeding, meal preparation, linen changes, light housekeeping, providing transportation to doctor appointments, outdoor activities, and shopping
  • Provide companionship, personal and hygiene care as directed in the client's personalized plan of care, including but not limited to: bathing, grooming, oral care, dressing, undressing, toileting activities, and assisting with measurements, if necessary
  • Adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols of the agency of employment
  • Adhere to HIPAA laws and ensure confidentiality and security of the client's medical information
