Requirements

  • High school or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous dining room attendant or server experience and/or training preferred.
  • Completion of ServeSafe course upon hire.
  • Must be a people-oriented individual.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Computer skills appropriate to job tasks include Point-of-Sale system.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Nice To Haves

  • Some familiarity with basic cooking skills (e.g., salad preparation, dessert plating).

Responsibilities

  • Greets guests and presents them with the menu.
  • Informs guests about the special items for the day and menu changes.
  • Suggests food and beverages to the guest.
  • Takes food and beverage orders from the guest on order-taking pads or handheld Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Obtains revenues, issues receipts, and accepts payments.
  • Performs cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
  • Fills in for absent staff as needed.
  • Enters orders on the POS machine, ensuring special requirements are noted.
  • Communicates with guests and provides assistance with their queries.
  • Coordinates with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation and resident/guest satisfaction.
  • Serves food and beverage to the guest as per the course of order.
  • Observes guests and ensures their satisfaction with the food and service.
  • Promptly responds to guest requests.
  • Buses tables when guests leave.
  • Maintains a proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, and refilling glasses.
  • Adheres to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
  • Assists with stocking and maintaining dining room par stock levels and side stations.
  • Helps other areas of the restaurant, such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions for Take-Out.
  • Closes the shift on the POS terminal.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
