About The Position

The Associate Co-op, Private Banking, provides support to one or more Private Banking Advisor teams. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide exceptional service to Private Banking clients by assisting them with their transactional banking needs and respond to their queries. The employee will promote and sell CIBC products and services to clients and assist clients with their overall banking needs including lending, borrowing, investing or commercial lending in nature. During your internship, you will: Engage and support various client transactions, gaining understanding of day to transactions of our clients. Support Private Bankers by working closely with an experienced team to support their daily activities. This may include preparing client presentations, responding to clients verbally and in writing and analyzing financial data to help inform decision-making. Observe and learn from seasoned bankers as they interact with clients and manage their portfolios. This will give you a deeper understanding of client relationship management and the importance of personalized service in private banking. CIBC Private Banking offers personalized financial solutions and wealth management services to high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience by rotating through various functions within the Private Banking division.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary education and returning to full-time studies to be eligible.
  • Fluent in French and English.
  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate experience with loan, mortgage, and investment products sufficient to respond to general customer inquiries.
  • Working knowledge of branch routine and operations of other departments and CIBC partners, sufficient to address client inquiries adequately and/or refer to appropriate source.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional service to Private Banking clients by assisting them with their transactional banking needs and respond to their queries.
  • Promote and sell CIBC products and services to clients.
  • Assist clients with their overall banking needs including lending, borrowing, investing or commercial lending in nature.

  • Support Private Bankers by working closely with an experienced team to support their daily activities.
  • Prepare client presentations, respond to clients verbally and in writing and analyze financial data to help inform decision-making.
  • Observe and learn from seasoned bankers as they interact with clients and manage their portfolios.
  • Effectively deal with any client issues, concerns or problems promptly.
  • Service the financial needs of existing clients when the Private Banking Advisor is not available (including sale of high value products and services within established guidelines).
  • Respond to incoming clients requests to process wires/cables and visa, tax and bill payments, and ensure requests get completed.
  • Complete complex investigations for clients concerning account activity.
  • Support Private Banking Advisor in the management of their portfolios by reviewing all customer documentation with respect to compliance with regulations and bank policies.
  • Coordinate communication to customers regarding obtaining necessary financial information for completion of credit renewals, reviews and temporary overdraft protection.
  • Monitor diary for upcoming maturities/renewals/expiries and advise the Private Banking Advisor.
