About The Position

Supports the implementation and facilitation of ongoing privacy compliance auditing, monitoring, and education activities. This position will provide support and guidance to ensure that SSM remain in compliance with all Federal and state privacy program rules, regulations, and administrative requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education
  • Three years' experience
  • Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Candidates must be self-starters and able to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in privacy, compliance, or legal roles is preferred.
  • AHIMA or HCCA credentials are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in supporting the maintenance and privacy program for SSM ministries.
  • Serves as a resource to all departments in establishing methods to improve efficiency and reduce vulnerability to privacy issues.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of an internal privacy audit program to ensure enterprise-wide compliance to corporate privacy policies.
  • Assist in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of SSM ’s information privacy policies. Administer the process for receiving, documentation, tracking, investigating, and taking action relating to all patient complaints concerning privacy and confidentiality.
  • Performs periodic information privacy risk assessments and conduct related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with SSM Corporate Compliance Office, local Human Resources.
  • Investigate or coordinate inquiries from employees, patients, third parties and the Compliance Hotline under the direction of department leadership.
  • Collaborates with departments within SSM to coordinate responses to requests for access to protected health information and requests for restrictions on the release of protected health information.
  • Works with key departments and committees to ensure that SSM has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality authorization forms, information notices and materials reflecting current organization and legal practicand requirements.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and ongoing compliance monitoring of all business partner and business associate agreements to ensure that privacy concerns, requirements and responsibilities are addressed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
