Requirements

J.D. degree with a record of strong academic performance.
4+ years of experience in privacy law, including involvement with vendor contracts, DPAs, and/or data sharing agreements, acquired at a law firm, in-house, or both.
Fundamental understanding of key privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other relevant U.S. state privacy statutes.
A license to practice law in California required.
Strong communication and organizational abilities, including writing, attention to detail, and the capability to handle multiple workstreams efficiently.
A practical, business-minded approach to legal risk, with the ability to provide clear, actionable mentorship.

Nice To Haves

Experience at a technology company or in a practice group passionate about technology transactions or data privacy.
Familiarity with AI, data governance, or cybersecurity legal issues — or a desire to develop expertise in these areas.
A CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or similar privacy certification.
A history of contributing to scalable legal processes and internal resources.
A passion for continuous learning and an enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, innovation-focused environment.

Responsibilities

Reviewing vendor contracts and data processing agreements (DPAs), with a focus on privacy, data use, and security provisions.
Supporting outbound data sharing arrangements with third parties, including assisting with data transfer risk assessments and ensuring appropriate contractual safeguards are in place.
Contributing to the development of scalable processes and playbooks for vendor privacy review and third-party data sharing.
Consulting with business partners on privacy considerations arising from new products, partnerships, and data initiatives.
Keeping up-to-date with legal developments in privacy law, including U.S. state privacy regulations and international frameworks such as GDPR, and offering advice on their practical implications.
Collaborating with members of the legal and privacy team on various data governance and privacy issues, such as drafting guidelines and helping develop training materials.
Growing into broader privacy and data governance responsibilities as the program evolves.
