About The Position

As a Privacy Consultant, you will provide privacy-related guidance to all areas of our business and support the ongoing operations of the Privacy Office. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Legal, Information Technology, Product, Information Security, and Enterprise Risk, to provide guidance and general oversight to corporate programs. The Privacy Consultant will support our organizational compliance with established legislation and the guidance issued by the Federal and Provincial Privacy Commissioners.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in Privacy ideally within the insurance or financial services industry.
  • Completed a post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Excellent understanding of privacy regulations, program requirements and controls.
  • Proficiency in English.

  • French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the Privacy Office is perceived as a valued partner by collaborating with business areas to deliver solutions that drive value and privacy risk mitigation.
  • Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) on any new initiatives reported to the Privacy Office.
  • Developing regular communications across the organization to improve awareness of our privacy program and related topics.
  • Building sound understanding of current and future business processes and endeavor to provide optimal support.
  • Supporting the Privacy Office team with the investigation of privacy incidents and responding to client requests.
  • Providing advice and guidance aligned to all policies and standards to ensure consistency in approach.
  • Identifying opportunities to develop innovative approaches that improve efficiency and effectiveness of our privacy program.
  • Encouraging the creation of new approaches to effective privacy controls that allow business areas to achieve both risk mitigation and business results.
