Requirements

Prior experience in prior authorization, medical billing, or healthcare administration preferred
Familiarity with insurance verification, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and payer portals
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple authorizations simultaneously
Excellent communication skills for interacting with payers, providers, and patients
Proficiency with EHR systems and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
High school diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

Submit and manage prior authorization requests to insurance carriers on behalf of patients and providers
Review clinical documentation to ensure accurate and complete authorization submissions
Follow up on pending, denied, and approved authorizations in a timely manner
Communicate authorization status updates to clinical staff, providers, and patients
Appeal denied authorizations by gathering supporting medical documentation
Maintain accurate records in the electronic health record (EHR) or practice management system
Stay current on payer-specific guidelines, medical policies, and insurance requirements
