About The Position

The Printshop/Mailroom Operator position is a full-time, regular role with the Employment Security Commission. The primary responsibilities include operating large capacity printers, copiers, scanners, folders, and postage meters for the production of various printed materials. The role also involves receiving, sorting, and delivering mail accurately and in a timely manner. Additionally, the operator is responsible for the cleaning and minor repairs of equipment, maintaining inventory of supplies, and identifying opportunities for process improvement within the printshop and mailroom operations. On-site attendance is essential for direct interaction with staff, clients, and office resources.

Requirements

  • Basic working knowledge of Large Scale printshop/Mailroom equipment and in the operation of said equipment.
  • On-site attendance is an essential function of the position, as the role requires direct interaction with staff, clients, and on-site office resources.
  • Knowledge of setup, operation, and minor maintenance of a variety of Printshop/Mailroom Equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of basic grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of the operation of multicolor printing.
  • Knowledge of modern office procedures.
  • Ability to operate and perform minor repairs and adjustments to Printing Equipment.
  • 1 year of experience working in a mailroom/printshop.
  • Basic knowledge of large capacity Printing, Scanning, Inserting/Folding Postage meters and other reproduction/peripheral equipment, or the completion of a vocational or technical education program in offset printing.
  • Employees must be able to remain sitting for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Repetitive lifting, carrying, and moving objects of up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is necessary for the operation of computer equipment and related office tools.
  • Routine use of office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, and printers.
  • Proficiently using the OESC’s standard software (Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Teams), and the Internet, as well as proficiency to learn other software as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Operate large capacity printers, copiers, scanners, folders, and postage meters in the printing of publications, forms, bulletins, or other items.
  • Receiving, checking, and sorting mail ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  • Responsible for delivering mail to the correct recipients, either by hand or using mail distribution systems.
  • Cleans and makes necessary adjustments and minor repairs to equipment.
  • Maintains an inventory of materials or supplies on hand.
  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities for streamlining print processes, implementing new technologies, and enhancing overall efficiency.
