Pregis is seeking a Printing Press Operator for their Day Shift. This role is crucial in ensuring the production of high-quality products at the lowest possible cost, meeting company standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The operator will be responsible for operating converting and finishing equipment, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures, and training other employees. Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in driving a sit-down forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all types of full converting line and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality, and productivity.
  • Understand and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Train other employees when requested or required.
  • Analyze issues, determine, and implement solutions.
  • Provide innovative/creative solutions for opportunities and/or improvements.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities to direct crews in the efficient operation of production equipment.
  • Read and understand all information on job tickets, ensuring all necessary components are present.
  • Utilize strong inline finishing skill set to achieve print quality and register equipment.
  • Operate all line ancillary equipment.
  • Effectively set up and operate all inline equipment (e.g., gluing, labeling, Straub Applicators) as well as rotary cutters with minimal supervision.
  • Understand tension controls and ancillary equipment, web up the line, and set cylinders and plates.
  • Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Efficiently operate in-line systems with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain 100% of standards in productivity, waste, and quality.
  • Accurately enter all codes for quantities, materials, and times onto required paperwork.
  • Accurately track line counts.
  • Establish and promote an environment for learning and process improvement.
  • Consistently look for improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production.
  • Work within all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Interact well between shifts to gain and pass along information for a smooth transition.
