Print Technician, Workflow (Temp)
About The Position
We're looking for a Print Technician to join our Workflow team and serve as the hands-on engine behind our materials and workflow research. You will run research prints, prepare test samples, and execute structured experiments that enable Design of Experiments (DOE) studies across resins, printers, and post-processing workflows. This role is critical to the speed and quality of our R&D pipeline. You'll work side-by-side with materials scientists, workflow engineers, and product managers to convert experimental plans into reliable, well-documented printed samples that drive product decisions. Training will be provided.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of hands-on experience in a lab, manufacturing, or 3D printing environment
- Comfortable working with hands daily: small parts, precision tools, chemicals, and lab equipment
- Strong attention to detail and discipline around following written protocols exactly
- Clear written and verbal communication for logging results and flagging issues
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods during print and post-processing operations
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s in a technical field (engineering, materials, chemistry, biology, or related)
- Direct experience with SLA, DLP, or other photopolymer 3D printing technologies
- Familiarity with dental, medical device, or other regulated lab environments
- Exposure to DOE, statistical sampling, or structured experimentation
- Experience with slicing software (e.g., RayWare), CAD viewers, or basic mesh manipulation
- Familiarity with tools like Google Sheets, Jira, or lab data management systems
Responsibilities
- Execute daily research prints across SprintRay's SLA/DLP printer fleet using a wide range of resins and workflows
- Prepare test specimens, coupons, and dental models for DOE studies per defined experimental plans
- Perform full post-processing workflows: washing, drying, support removal, and post-curing per protocol
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain printers, wash units, and cure units to keep equipment in research-ready condition
- Partner with materials scientists and workflow engineers to translate DOE plans into executable print queues
- Run experiments with strict adherence to variables, controls, and replication requirements
- Flag deviations, anomalies, or print failures and escalate quickly to maintain experimental integrity
- Support iterative builds across multiple resin formulations, print settings, and post-processing recipes
- Scan printed samples and perform dimensional comparisons using measurement tools to evaluate model accuracy
- Log test results clearly and compile summaries from daily testing activities
- Maintain accurate, traceable records of every print: material lot, printer ID, build parameters, and post-processing conditions
- Photograph and label samples; organize specimens for downstream mechanical, dimensional, or biocompatibility testing
- Log results in shared trackers (Jira, Google Sheets, internal databases) so data is clean and analysis-ready
- Contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and help refine print and post-processing protocols
- Manage resin inventory, sample storage, and consumables for the workflow lab
- Keep the lab clean, organized, and compliant with safety and PPE requirements
- Support Materials, R&D, and Product teams on ad-hoc print requests tied to validation, demos, and customer escalations
- Identify opportunities to improve throughput, reproducibility, and turnaround time of research prints
