About The Position

Formlabs is seeking a Print Optimization Intern for the Summer 2027 term to join the SLA Materials Team. This full-time, onsite internship in Somerville, MA, offers hands-on experience with 3D printers and the opportunity to explore the 3D printing industry. The intern will develop and test materials settings for optimal performance, evaluate current material settings for improvement, and design and execute experiments. This role involves using high-accuracy measurement equipment to validate projects and requires strong organizational, communication, and data analysis skills. Requirements

Well-organized, good time management, and excellent attention to detail
Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Communicate test results effectively and in a timely manner
Experience with data analysis
Experience with experimental design
Experience working with protocols/SOPs
Enthusiastic and interested in 3D printing

Nice To Haves

Basic understanding programming and scientific computing, ideally Python and/or Matlab
Familiar with mechanical design and CAD modeling (Solidworks/OpenScad/Onshape a plus)

Responsibilities

Develop and test materials settings for peak performance (speed, surface quality, supports, etc)
Evaluate current material setting performance to identify areas for improvement
Design and execute experiments, using results to inform and develop improvements in software or hardware
