Partner Operations Manager

Lob
•$102,500 - $112,500•Remote

About The Position

As the Print Operations Manager, you’ll own day-to-day management of a group of commercial print partners in Lob’s Print Delivery Network (PDN), the network that manufactures and mails every piece sent through Lob’s APIs. A typical week means running partner scorecards, digging into on-time delivery and quality data, and driving corrective action when a partner misses SLA. You’ll audit invoices against rate cards, forecast capacity ahead of peak, and jump in as first responder when a print run needs to be stopped, cancelled, or rerouted. You’ll work across Commercial Print Operations, postal logistics, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Supply Chain to keep the network running as volume grows. You’ll spend about half your time on-site at partner production facilities. And you’ll lean on AI tools, SQL, and automation to manage more partners, more volume, and more audits with less manual work.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing commercial printers or contract manufacturers;
  • Working knowledge of print production and mail: offset vs. inkjet, finishing and inserting, substrates (basis weight, cwt pricing), PDF/X and GRACoL, and USPS presort, automation discounts, IMb, and NCOA/PAF;
  • Fluency reading commercial printer rate cards, volume tier structures, and invoices, plus comfort in SQL or advanced spreadsheet modeling;
  • Demonstrated use of AI/LLM tools to replace manual operational work, with examples of workflows you’ve built, not just tools you’ve used;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and in ambiguity;
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels, including partners, cross-functional teams, and leadership;
  • Proven ability to execute large, complex initiatives in a high-growth, geographically distributed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Redshift, NetSuite, or automating invoice ingestion;
  • Experience qualifying paper stocks to spec ranges and FSC requirements;
  • Experience standing up or activating overflow and flex partner networks;
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering on USPS or printer integrations;

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned group of PDN partners on performance, capacity, cost, and contract compliance, running weekly scorecards and quarterly business reviews;
  • Audit partner invoices against contracted rate cards and tier structures, recover overcharges, and use AI tools (e.g., Claude) and SQL to automate audits, scorecards, and reporting across Redshift, NetSuite, and invoice ingestion;
  • Enforce the Lob Paper Program and substrate specs, and hold partners to PostalIQ go-live benchmarks as PostalIQ expands across the network;
  • Within 6 months, own the scorecards and weekly operating cadence for your partners, complete full partner invoice audits independently, and ship at least one AI-driven workflow that removes recurring manual work;
  • Within 12 months, own capacity forecasting for your partners through peak season, qualify and onboard new flex partners, and have PostalIQ presort readiness in place across your partner group.
