About The Position

amika is seeking a Print Designer to sit at the intersection of packaging design and visual merchandising, owning the design development of print assets that bring our campaign concepts and product launches to life across packaging, retail, and brand touchpoints. this role is ideal for a designer who can move quickly between concept-to-layout, systems thinking, and production realities, balancing craft, brand consistency, and technical precision. you’ll partner closely with the Creative Director, Art Directors, and Brand team to translate creative vision into print-ready work that is unmistakably amika.

Requirements

  • 4–6+ years of experience in print/graphic design (beauty, fashion, lifestyle, or CPG preferred)
  • a portfolio showing strong typography, layout systems, and print design craft across multiple formats
  • fluency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop (and strong file hygiene / version control)
  • experience designing for packaging and/or retail/VM with understanding of production constraints
  • working knowledge of print production fundamentals: bleeds, trims, dielines, color modes, spot colors, proofing, and finishes
  • strong presentation skills and comfort explaining design decisions to stakeholders
  • highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects under tight timelines
  • nyc-based (or able to be in-office when needed)

Nice To Haves

  • experience preparing mechanicals independently (vs handing off to production)
  • familiarity with packaging/VM vendors, printer workflows, and press checks
  • basic understanding of regulatory considerations for beauty packaging and retail copy
  • figma proficiency for systems, templates, and internal presentations

Responsibilities

  • partner with the Creative Director, Art Directors, and Brand team to translate campaign concepts and product launches into print-ready designs, ensuring alignment with amika’s brand guidelines, tone, and visual identity.
  • present multiple design options and iterate quickly based on feedback from creative leadership and key stakeholders.
  • develop design layouts across packaging, retail signage/VM, out-of-home, direct mailers, and other printed collateral as needed.
  • manage resizing, reformatting, and localization of existing layouts for multiple markets, retailers, and placements
  • prepare mechanical files for production, ensuring accuracy across dielines, specifications, and artwork placement.
  • manage print production considerations including color correction, spot colors, and special finishes (foil, emboss/deboss, varnishes), and review printer proofs for quality control
  • maintain and update packaging and VM asset libraries, templates, and guidelines to keep the system organized and scalable
