About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Principle Product Definition Engineer to join our Assembly Equipment Engineering Design team. You will be instrumental in reviewing, verifying and correcting the blueprint drawings of uniquely designed assembly equipment for the development and production of the most advanced aircraft engines in the world. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of engineers in design, project, process, assembly and test.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of engineering experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design, drafting and engineering review within manufacturing, industrial or assembly equipment environments.
  • Ability to obtain government security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Aerospace hardware product definition (blueprints).
  • Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive or other high-precision industries.
  • Knowledge and experience to evaluate machining feasibility, welding and fastening methods, and material selections (metals, plastics, purchased items, etc.)
  • Familiarity with drawing release processes, revision control, and configuration management.
  • Experience with Teamcenter.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and drafting software (NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience reviewing designs for manufacturability, tolerance stack-ups, fit/function, and assembly sequencing.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, verifying, providing corrections of assembly equipment blueprints. Adhering to the Assembly Equipment Engineering standards and procedures, following ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Create checked blueprints and use strong communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback to design engineers.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives focused on developing methods and technologies to enhance engineering processes and reduce new product introduction (NPI) cycle time.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development while effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mentor junior and new engineers in learning and developing accurate and correct drafting.
