About The Position

This role requires a Principal Investigator (PI) with a strong background in AI and machine learning to lead an R&D project focused on developing an AI product. The PI will be responsible for the technical direction, project management, and ensuring the project meets its objectives, including a critical AI section. The role demands the ability to credibly discuss model choices, data utilization, and explainability. Experience in leading R&D or software projects, particularly those funded by federal grants, is essential, as is the capability to manage a fixed-price, milestone-driven effort. Excellent technical writing and presentation skills are necessary for effective communication with evaluators.

Requirements

• Employable by Sharp at more than half time at award, or willing to commit to that contingently.
• Strong AI and machine learning background.
• Credibility in discussing model choices, data, and explainability.
• Track record leading or delivering R&D or software projects, ideally federally funded.
• Ability to run a fixed-price, milestone-driven effort.
• Clear technical writing and presentation skills.

Nice To Haves

• Transit, mobility, or transportation domain experience, or a clear ability to come up to speed fast.
• Accessibility expertise (Section 508, WCAG, Universal Design, assistive technology, or real experience with disability access).
• System architecture and integration experience.
• Commercialization or product experience.

Responsibilities
