About The Position

RTX is seeking a Principal Windows Systems Administrator to join their team in El Segundo, CA. This role involves providing IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment. The administrator will collaborate in a fast-paced setting, troubleshoot complex technical issues including hardware and OS integration, and adapt to evolving challenges. Responsibilities include working with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements, providing documentation and training on advanced IT processes, and leading storage appliance management across classified networks. The role requires developing solutions and documentation for technical problems within 6 months of the start date and obtaining Department of Defense Directive (DoD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent) and an Operating System Certification within 3 months.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or a master’s degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Must have an active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting storage appliances specifically NetApp and experience with iscsi, NAS and SAN solutions.
  • Experience with administering backups (with Veritas Netbackup, BackupExec, Veeam or closely related software).
  • Experience with VmWare Virtualization such as VDS, and various cyber hardening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with integration and supporting an email platform such as Exchange or SmarterMail.
  • Configuration and support of Fabric Cisco or Brocade Switches.
  • Linux expertise desired.
  • Familiarity with Splunk, Nessus, Symantec, SCCM highly desired.
  • Experienced mentoring individuals and teams.
  • Creating Visio Diagrams to reflect system and network overview/topology.
  • Self-starter, take on various projects at once, and be comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF.

  • Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.
  • Be the lead for all storage appliances in all classified networks.
  • Troubleshoot complex IT issues and come with a resolution.
  • Develop solutions and documentation about a variety of technical problems within 6 months of start date.
  • Obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification within 3 months.
