About The Position

The Tech Scout identifies, evaluates, and recommends emerging technologies and solutions aligned with Air Reserve Component mission needs. This role builds and sustains relationships with industry, academia, laboratories, and other military innovation organizations. The Tech Scout ensures that discovered technologies are rapidly assessed, connected to mission owners, and integrated into ARCWERX’s standardized evaluation and reporting ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Experience conducting technology scouting, market research, or technical outreach across government, DoD, or industry.
  • Ability to assess technical solutions and communicate clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) with 10 years experience
  • Secret Clearance required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with innovation ecosystems such as ARCWERX, AFWERX, DIU, or AFRL.
  • Knowledge of Air Force Reserve mission needs and capability gaps.
  • Experience with TRL/MRL assessments and rapid prototyping workflows.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across industry, academic, and defense communities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive outreach to industry, academia, and DoD innovation hubs to identify relevant emerging technologies.
  • Develop a repeatable technology scouting pipeline capturing solutions, evaluating maturity, and aligning findings with mission needs.
  • Facilitate engagement between solution providers, Air Force Reserve operators, and ARCWERX leadership.
  • Evaluate technologies using standardized tools measuring mission impact, ROI, readiness level, and deterrent value.
  • Document scouting results and feed findings into ARCWERX’s portfolio management system.
  • Maintain awareness of market trends, commercial innovations, and defense technology developments.
  • Collaborate with the Portfolio Manager to transition promising technologies into formal innovation projects.
