About The Position

EGS is seeking a Principal Technical Advisor – SRPPF NMC&A Advisor to provide senior-level technical leadership and subject matter expertise supporting Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) activities for the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF) at the Savannah River Site. This position serves as the technical authority for NMC&A processes and requirements, ensuring compliance with current DOE Orders governing Nuclear Material Control and Accountability. The selected candidate will provide strategic guidance, technical oversight, and expert support to facility design, operations, and program organizations to ensure NMC&A requirements are properly incorporated into facility systems, schedules, and operational processes. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience supporting NMC&A programs at DOE/NNSA facilities and will provide mentorship and technical guidance to the next generation of NMC&A professionals. This role requires exceptional technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to interface with DOE, NNSA, and site organizations on highly visible and mission-critical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 20 years of Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) experience at a DOE/NNSA site
  • Extensive knowledge of DOE Orders governing Nuclear Material Control and Accountability
  • Expert understanding of NMC&A processes, safeguards, and nuclear material accountability requirements
  • Experience supporting facility operations, engineering, or programmatic organizations
  • Strong project management and strategic planning capabilities
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and solving complex technical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer proficiency and experience with administrative and technical systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Active DOE Q Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) preferred and may reduce years of required experience
  • Previous Savannah River Site NMC&A experience
  • Direct experience supporting plutonium processing or nuclear operations facilities
  • Experience developing training programs and mentoring personnel
  • Previous management or operations leadership experience
  • Advanced degree in a technical or scientific discipline
  • Active DOE L or Q Clearance within the past two years preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (NMC&A) processes and requirements at Savannah River Site
  • Ensure NMC&A requirements from current DOE Orders are incorporated into facility design, operations, and schedules
  • Support development and implementation of NMC&A strategies and compliance programs
  • Provide technical guidance on safeguards, accountability, and nuclear material management activities
  • Support regulatory compliance and interface with DOE-SR, DOE-HQ, and external organizations
  • Provide expert technical leadership for complex programmatic and operational issues
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams supporting highly visible and mission-critical initiatives
  • Develop strategic plans, milestones, and corrective actions for technical programs
  • Define scope and requirements for new project work and evolving program requirements
  • Recommend innovative solutions to address complex technical and operational challenges
  • Provide technical input to Authorization Basis Documents, technical reports, and program procedures
  • Support program improvement initiatives and mission objectives
  • Participate in organizational strategic planning and process improvement efforts
  • Support oversight reviews, boards, and external assessments
  • Ensure adherence to technical policies, standards, and guidelines
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to new NMC&A personnel
  • Support development of training materials and qualification programs
  • Transfer institutional knowledge and best practices to future generations of NMC&A professionals
  • Serve as a resource for technical training and professional development initiatives
  • Represent the organization in interactions with DOE-SR, DOE-HQ, oversight boards, and external customers
  • Manage technical correspondence and provide recommendations to senior leadership
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, maintenance, and program organizations to resolve technical issues
  • Support cross-functional teams in achieving mission objectives
