About The Position

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Principal Tech Program Manager for multiple positions available in Sunnyvale, California. This role involves coordinating and managing technical programs across multiple cross-functional teams. The Principal Tech Program Manager will lead program development for large-scale, distributed software applications, systems, platforms, services, or technologies, utilizing Object Oriented coding and design (Java, C++, Perl, HTML) throughout the entire software development lifecycle. Key responsibilities include defining program success metrics, establishing projects, collecting business requirements, and writing functional and technical specifications. The role also involves driving software development efforts, managing priorities for project/program completion, and performing software application performance tuning. The Principal Tech Program Manager will act as both a builder and operator, balancing speed-to-market with sustainable mechanisms for the software development lifecycle. This includes refining processes, defining new mechanisms, identifying risks, proposing technical solutions, and managing dependencies. Creating schedules, communicating risks to stakeholders, defining risk mitigation strategies, and facilitating software engineering solutions are also crucial. The role requires managing cross-functional teams and/or third-party vendors for the implementation of project/program requirements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Science, Business Administration or a related field and three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Science, Business Administration or a related field and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Three years of experience in managing projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes, and coordinating new product release schedules from design to release for large-scale software applications.
  • Experience with Agile Project management using Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban.
  • Experience presenting complex technical information concisely to executives and non-technical leaders.
  • Experience driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
  • Experience managing large scale project budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage technical programs that span across multiple cross-functional teams.
