About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is hiring a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to support the Sentinel program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems division. The position is based in Roy, Utah, or Huntsville, Alabama, and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program and the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for ICBM ground and airborne launch control systems, launch facilities, and associated infrastructure. Responsibilities include participating in product, system, support-equipment, and facility design; creating functional specifications and establishing safety requirements; developing safety documentation; supporting customer and test or operational range requirements; auditing operational areas; and evaluating how safety requirements relate to other design and development requirements to support cost-effective programs. The role requires expertise applying MIL-STD-882E, DO-178, DO-254, software or design development, or comparable systems engineering practices, as well as experience generating or reviewing design artifacts for system safety analyses that mature weapons-system design and support flight testing and flight worthiness of complex systems. The role requires an active, current, in-scope U.S. DoD Secret clearance at application, with an investigation within the last six years, and the ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval. Travel is 10% of the time. The standard schedule is 9/80, with nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.
