Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years of experience within a total information technology (IT) environment
  • At least 7 years of experience with the design, development and support of technology infrastructure

Nice To Haves

  • Strong expertise in IBM z/OS storage management , including DASD, tape systems, and enterprise storage architectures
  • Hands-on experience with DFSMS suite (SMS, DFHSM, ICF catalogs) for storage design, automation, and lifecycle management
  • Proven ability in capacity planning, performance tuning, and storage optimization across large-scale mainframe environments
  • Experience managing disk/tape allocation, space management, dataset placement, and storage pool optimization
  • Knowledge of data protection and resiliency solutions , including GDPS, SRDF, replication, backup, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with incident management, root cause analysis, and production support for storage and performance issues

Responsibilities

  • Administer and support IBM z/OS storage environments, including DASD and tape.
  • Design, implement, and maintain DFSMS constructs such as SMS, DFHSM, and ICF catalogs.
  • Monitor storage utilization, performance, and growth trends, and perform proactive capacity planning.
  • Manage disk and tape allocation, space recovery, dataset placement, and pool optimization.
  • Support storage replication, backup, and disaster recovery solutions, including GDPS, SRDF, or equivalent technologies.
  • Perform incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for storage-related outages or performance issues.
  • Participate in planned maintenance, hardware refreshes, microcode upgrades, and z/OS releases.
  • Develop and maintain automation, scripts, and reporting for storage operations and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with application teams, mainframe systems programmers, and infrastructure partners to meet service level objectives.
  • Produce clear documentation, operational procedures, and leadership-ready status or incident summaries.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as required.
