The Roche Sequencing team is looking for a dedicated Systems Integration Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer to join our Systems Integration Group, supporting our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products. This is a hands-on role where you will be instrumental in the feasibility, development, and integration phases of comprehensive NGS solutions. Roche Sequencing Solutions is committed to creating new technologies that make genetic testing accessible, reliable, and affordable. As a member of the Systems Integration team, you will gain expertise in the Roche Single Molecule Sequencing platform, optimizing operational protocols while conducting wet-lab experiments to advance the sequencing solution through the integration of subcomponents and overall system optimization. You will be responsible for interpreting experimental results, designing experiments effectively, and becoming an expert in Single Molecule Sequencing. Your duties will include performing various sample preparation, library, and sequencing-related experiments, as well as verification studies. All work must be conducted using best laboratory practices, maintaining well-organized and concise records of performed work and progress. You will also demonstrate experience in troubleshooting instrument failures using standard root cause analysis methods and collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand failure modes. You will interpret product requirements to develop, execute, and document test cases for verification and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, science, engineering and/or other related field with 7 or more years of experience; or a Master’s degree (in the above listed areas of study) with 5 or more years of experience; or a PhD (in above listed areas of study) with 3+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with PCR, DNA sequencing methods such as raw sample preparation, nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and NGS sequencing.
  • 5 or more years of experience with MATLAB, GIT, Python or similar tools for data analysis and/or automation.
  • Experience with statistical tools (e.g. Python/JMP for regression analysis, ANOVA).
  • 7 or more years of experience in Design of Experiments methodology.
  • Application of statistical process control.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products.
  • Contribute to the feasibility, development, and integration phases of end-to-end NGS solutions.

  • Complete all work using best laboratory practices and maintain a well-organized and concise record of work performed and progress made.
  • Troubleshoot instrument failures with standard root cause methods while engaging with SMEs to understand failure modes.
  • Understand product requirements in order to develop, execute, and document test cases for verification and validation.
