About The Position

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer providing support to the Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management Division (C3BM). Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (C3BM) has been tasked with delivering an integrated Department of the Air Force (DAF) Battle Network providing resilient decision advantage and enabling the USAF, USSF, Joint, and Coalition Force to win against the pacing challenge. C3BM supports execution in many different focus areas. C3BM’s main efforts are Architecture and Systems Engineering (ASE), Operational Response Team (ORT), and multiple mission integration teams such as Air, Maritime, and multiple acquisitions consisting of both the Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) and Space.

Requirements

Must be a US citizen
Must have and be able to maintain an active Top Secret level clearance and have current SCI eligibility
Systems Engineering across the acquisition lifecycle
DoD and USAF systems engineering experience
System-of-Systems Architecture Development
Mission Integration and Enterprise Architecture
Requirements Development and Analysis
Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM)
Risk Assessment and Mitigation Planning
Cloud-based systems, including management and projection of cost and performance
Agile methodologies, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and DevOps principles
Knowledge of systems acquisition and program management processes as defined in DoDI 5000.02 and DoDI 5000.75
Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis
Technical Documentation and Executive Brief Development
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and deliver results with minimal oversight

Responsibilities

Provide systems engineering support across the acquisition lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, sustainment, and disposal
Translate operational and functional needs into technical requirements for Mission Integration Team (MIT) activities
Develop and support enterprise‑level architectures for the DAF Battle Network, ensuring integration and interoperability across systems and stakeholders
Review DoD architecture models and contribute to future‑state architecture designs enabling sensor‑to‑shooter connectivity
Drive interoperability and integration across PEOs, weapon systems, mission partners, and joint/coalition stakeholders
Capture, document, and analyze current‑state and future‑state mission and engagement architectures
Conduct capability and technical risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and track progress
Support execution management strategies and transition validated capability requirements to acquisition teams
Assist with test and evaluation strategy development alongside acquisition and test organizations
Document and evaluate Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) requirements and solutions across DBN programs
Identify preferred ICAM approaches, assess capability gaps, and support POA&M development and implementation
Draft, maintain, and support execution of ICAM strategy documentation
Develop technical briefings, engineering documentation, reports, and acquisition artifacts for senior leadership
Manage complex requirement hierarchies using tools such as DOORS or Jira, ensuring clear traceability
Create and refine System Requirements Documents (SRDs) and other requirement documentation guiding program development
Apply DoD frameworks (UAF, DoDAF) to system‑of‑systems architecture development
Translate complex technical specifications into clear operational impacts for military stakeholders and senior leaders
Use Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (SysML, Cameo, MagicDraw) to develop and analyze models within Digital Engineering ecosystems
Build and maintain structural, behavioral, and parametric architecture models defining system interfaces and capabilities
Conduct trade‑space analyses evaluating alternatives based on cost, schedule, performance, and risk
Develop verification and validation materials, including test matrices and verification plans
Serve as a technical liaison across government program offices, contractors, and operational users to resolve integration issues and drive consensus
Work with operational and SME communities to identify capability gaps and decompose them into functional requirements
Proactively identify key architectural decision points and deliver well‑researched courses of action aligned to cost, schedule, performance, and long‑term technology strategy
