About The Position

VTG is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support our customer. This role involves applying a comprehensive set of systems engineering principles and disciplines supporting Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 and HP UX 11.0 administration and network support. The engineer will install and configure servers and client software upgrades, provide network monitoring and firewall configuration, and offer engineering support, testing, administration, and troubleshooting for mail servers. Responsibilities also include developing engineering assessments of different configurations, reviewing work products for correctness and adherence to design concepts and user standards, and ensuring progress according to schedules. The role requires coordination with the Project and/or Program Manager to ensure problem resolution and user satisfaction, making recommendations for major systems installations, and preparing milestone status reports and presentations.

Requirements

• BA/BS in a technical discipline
• At least 10 years of experience
• Must have and maintain a Secret clearance
• Eligible for a Top Secret

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering support, tests, administers, and troubleshoots mail server.
• Develops engineering assessments of different configurations, including the review of work products for correctness, adherence to the design concept and to user standards, and for progress in accordance with schedules.
• Coordinates with the Project and/or Program Manager to ensure problem solution and user satisfaction.
• Makes recommendations, if needed, for approval of major systems installations.
• Prepares milestone status reports and deliveries/presentations on the system concept to colleagues, subordinates, and end user representatives.
