About The Position

The Processing, Guidance and Controls (PG&C) Center within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SE&TC) Discipline consists of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), Signal Processing (SP) and Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis (MS&A) disciplines for Effectors. The Signal Processing department is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer – Radar System Performance Team Lead for the Phalanx/SeaRAM product line. As the Principal Systems Engineer – Radar System Performance Team Lead, you will lead a cross-discipline team of 6-12 engineers working on the design, development, prototyping, integration, testing, and assessment of radar algorithms and models, track and fire algorithms, system simulations, and integration with combat directive systems. You will interface directly with the program IPT Lead, customer community, including the Technical Design Authority, as well as department leaders to ensure program execution remains predictable and supportive of program milestones. This is an onsite position located in Tucson, AZ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant prior experience
  • Experience in technical leadership of an engineering team
  • Experience in radar-based surveillance and tracking applications supporting customer programs
  • Proficiency in the Ada and C programming language
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in multiple algorithms including pulse-Doppler radar, surveillance track formation, monopulse tracking, and awareness/mitigation of environmental factors on RF propagation on land and at sea
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, time, and resources to consistently meet demanding schedules
  • Experience supporting programs under the Phalanx/SeaRAM product line
  • Active Special Program Access

Responsibilities

  • Lead an engineering team on a local area air defense program.
  • Act with advanced knowledge of signal processing, radar, controls, and systems to support budget, schedule, development, execution, and completion of difficult and often complex program objectives.
  • Coordinate with adjacent disciplines, such as Software, Integration & Test, and Systems to achieve common program goals and milestones.
  • Present technical findings to leadership and customer stakeholders in clear, actionable formats.
  • Share knowledge and mentor multiple team members.
