About The Position

Collins Aerospace is seeking a skilled professional to join their Flight Management department as a Product Owner for their military Fixed Wing programs. The role initially involves ownership of the E-2D program's planning and execution, with future assignments potentially including platforms such as C-130, AWACS, HC-144, KC-135, P-3, and others. The Product Owner will collaborate with platform teams and customers to define project requirements, translate them into a structured backlog of stories, and lead a development team for successful execution. This role also includes leading bidding efforts for modifications or extensions for the E-2D program. The company is looking for individuals ready to take on a pivotal role in advancing their military Flight Management portfolio. The product summary highlights CAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions, which are signature products for Military Avionics and Helicopters within Collins Integrated Avionics Systems, featuring capabilities like FMS, Performance Application, System Manager, Comm, Flight Director, and Flight Controls.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with agile methodologies and their application in large-scale projects.
  • Experience as a Product Owner or Scrum Master.
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM).
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or JAMA.
  • Experience with writing and managing Risks & Opportunities.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience in project management within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Experience with Flight Management software applications.
  • Experience owning work performed at Global Engineering Centers including GETC-India and/or GETC-Puerto Rico.
  • Experience owning work performed by SOW subcontract engineers.
  • Strong foundation in communication skills and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Flight Management liaison to internal and external customers on the E-2D program, ensuring flight management development aligns with schedule and requirements.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive story backlog outlining all necessary tasks for the full development life cycle.
  • Oversee the day-to-day execution of Flight Management scope on the E-2D program.
  • Create and manage Risks and Opportunities for WBS items.
  • Collaborate across various department agile teams to delegate tasks and track progress.
  • Drive the department's contributions to bids and proposals.
  • Engage in occasional domestic travel as needed (less than 10%).
